I love PWI and will probably still play it for a long time, but I'm also loving exploring FW. FW more "creative" quests and more options. PWI lots of older "typical" mmorpg characters, FW some slightly innovative characters. PWI the strong guilds are already strong, FW the guilds are yet to show what they will become. PWI there's a lot of "old" players, so it's both good (if you get the right friends) and frustrating (when everyone seems to know stuff you don't! where as with FW, we're all pretty much new, so if you like exploring the unknown without a lot of "crutches" FW is the way to go. PWI probably does have more flexibility in "unique" builds, but if you want to PVP or even effectively PVE, there are still "standard" builds that work and so maybe FW's lack of flexibility really isn't a downside PWI is very established, so there's lots of content in terms of instances, crafting FW is newer so lots its still in the process of development/rolling out PWI you can fly (which i like) FW you can't (although who knows in the future) so I've only been playing since phase 4, but here are my observations (I've been playing PWI for over 2 years) I would suggest playing FW for now, or find a different game other than PW if the wipe still bothers you. I got above level 80 and realized I had wasted a couple months of my life.
Instead of finishing the game, or fixing HUGE bugs with the game, they would rather pump out useless fashion. There are countless NPC's in the higher level cities, and you go up to trade with them, and you think, "How in the hell do I get any of that stuff", and the answer is, "you don't."ĥ. Few quests, with virtually no storyline.Ĥ. There's a **** load of walking, and the auto path is terrible.ģ. If you want to wear cleric robes on your tank, you can.Ģ. Here's my thoughts on PW (last played a year ago):ġ. I try not to think about the wipe, and I experiment or do whatever I want now so I don't **** up after the official launch. So you go play PW for a month, and essentially lose your character because you never go back to playing it.
You don't want to play FW closed beta, because you will lose your character. Hopefully you'll hear more from some higher level FW players before you decide.

Oh, you might want to wait until Wednesday to download PWI, since the new Genesis expansion is being released Tuesday night/Wednesday morning (depending on your timezone), that way you won't have to download another estimated 1 - 1.5 GB of new stuff then. Meanwhile I'm still playing PWI and loving it. PWI is a much older game, so FW beats it on graphics and the auto-path is much better, but being older also means it's a lot more fully developed too.Īdmittedly, I'm a bit biased in favor of playing PWI (I'm the moderator of the PWI wiki), but I'm still trying to figure out if FW is going to be deep enough for the kind of fiddling around I like to do with weird character builds and such for me to keep playing it. I'm still a newb on skills for FW, but it looks like PWI may have a better variety there too. Much more variety during character creation, you have a lot more choices for stat points, and you have a lot more choices for gear type. Well, most MMOs have many features in common, but putting them aside, Perfect World International (PWI) is a fairly (though not completely) different game.įrom what I've seen of FW (25 levels, admittedly not tons, but not nothing either), PWI is a lot more customizable.
